Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 April 2026 ยท Effective for all WireWrite NZ accounts

By creating an account and using WireWrite ("the Service"), operated by Phase Logic Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Certificate Retention

We will store your issued certificates for a minimum of seven (7) years from the date of issue, in line with New Zealand regulatory requirements under the Electricity Act 1992. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or permanent storage beyond this period.

We strongly recommend that you download and keep your own copies of all certificates. You can download PDF copies at any time from your dashboard. Phase Logic Ltd accepts no liability for loss of certificate data due to unforeseen circumstances including but not limited to service outages, data corruption, or account termination.

2. Draft Certificate Retention

Draft certificates (certificates that have not been issued) will be retained for ninety (90) days from the date they were last modified. After this period, draft certificates may be permanently deleted without notice.

If you wish to keep a draft certificate, you must either issue it or update it within the 90-day period.

3. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. We provide two-factor authentication (2FA) and strongly encourage all users to enable it in their account settings.

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised access to your account.

4. Acceptable Use

The Service is intended for use by licensed electrical workers in New Zealand for creating legitimate electrical compliance certificates. You agree not to:

  • Create fraudulent or misleading certificates
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Attempt to circumvent any security measures
  • Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others

5. Subscription and Billing

All new accounts receive a 30-day free trial — Individual Pro and Company alike. After the trial period, a paid subscription is required to continue creating certificates. Pro and Company subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at the time of purchase. All prices are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). Individual Pro prices are inclusive of GST; Company seat prices are exclusive of GST (added at checkout).

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access until the end of your current billing period. After that, certificate creation will be disabled until you resubscribe. For details on managing your subscription see our billing help guide.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email.

6. Digital Signatures

Certificates created through the Service include digital signatures captured via your device. By using the signature feature, you confirm that any signature you apply is your own and that you are authorised to issue the certificate.

Digital signatures on WireWrite certificates are accepted by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as valid signatures for the purposes of electrical compliance documentation.

7. EWRB Practising Licence Requirement

Access to certificate issuing is conditional upon uploading a valid EWRB Digital Practising Licence. You must hold a current practising licence issued by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) to use this feature.

If your practising licence expires, your access to certificate issuing will be suspended immediately. You will not be able to issue certificates until you upload a renewed licence with a valid expiry date.

It is solely your responsibility to maintain a current EWRB practising licence and to update your licence details in WireWrite when renewed. Phase Logic Ltd will not monitor licence expiry on your behalf, nor provide reminders beyond those displayed within the application.

No refunds will be provided for any subscription period during which your access is suspended due to an expired practising licence. Subscriptions continue to be billed regardless of licence status. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal.

By uploading your EWRB Digital Licence, you confirm that the licence is genuine, belongs to you, and that the information contained within it is accurate and current. See our EWRB verification guide for the upload process.

8. Electrical Calculators

WireWrite provides electrical calculators (Cable Sizer, Voltage Drop, Maximum Demand, Circuit Check, Earth Fault, Solar String) as a convenience tool. These calculators are a guide only and must not be relied upon for design decisions or compliance verification.

Calculator results are based on simplified assumptions and standard conditions. They do not account for all installation variables including but not limited to: cable grouping, ambient temperature variations, thermal insulation, harmonic loads, or site-specific conditions.

It is the responsibility of the licensed electrical worker to verify all calculations against AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008, and any other applicable standards before specifying or installing any electrical equipment or cables.

Phase Logic Ltd accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, or non-compliance arising from reliance on calculator outputs.

9. Company Accounts

Company account administrators are responsible for managing their team members and ensuring all users comply with these terms. The company administrator is responsible for:

  • Managing employee access and permissions
  • Ensuring all team members hold valid EWRB registration
  • Maintaining accurate billing information
  • Revoking access for employees who leave the company

10. Intellectual Property

The certificates you create using the Service are your property. We do not claim ownership of your certificate content, signatures, or client data.

The WireWrite software, design, branding, and documentation are the intellectual property of Phase Logic Ltd and are protected by copyright law.

11. Limitation of Liability

WireWrite is a tool to assist licensed electrical workers in creating compliance certificates. The accuracy and compliance of each certificate remains the responsibility of the certifying electrical worker.

Phase Logic Ltd is not liable for any losses, damages, or claims arising from certificates created using the Service, including but not limited to errors in certificate content, regulatory non-compliance, or data loss.

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or fail to pay subscription fees. Upon termination:

After termination of an account for any reason, all issued certificates and associated data will be permanently removed after thirty (30) days. Draft certificates will be deleted immediately. We strongly recommend downloading copies of all certificates before account closure.

13. Privacy Policy

Your use of the Service is also governed by this privacy policy, which describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information — including data obtained via Google sign-in.

13.1 Data We Collect

When you create an account we collect:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and profile picture as provided by you or your Google account.
  • Certificate data — the content of certificates you create, including client names, addresses, and work details.

If you sign in with Google, we access your email address and basic profile information (name and profile photo) via Google OAuth. We do not access your Google contacts, calendars, files, emails, or any other Google services data.

13.2 How We Use Your Data

  • Communication — your email address is used to send certificate emails, account notifications, and support correspondence.
  • Service improvement — anonymised usage data is used to improve features and performance.

We do not use your Google user data to serve advertisements, build advertising profiles, or train machine learning models.

13.3 Data Sharing

We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Supabase (database & authentication provider) — stores your account and certificate data securely in the cloud.
  • Stripe (payment processor) — receives your email address and billing details to process subscription payments.
  • Vercel (hosting provider) — serves the application; receives standard web request data (IP address, user agent).
  • Certificate recipients — when you email a certificate, the recipient receives the certificate data you created.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or Google user data to any third parties.

13.4 Data Storage & Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest.
  • Account data and certificates are stored in Supabase-managed PostgreSQL databases in secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel only.
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) is available and recommended for all user accounts.
  • Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and is never stored on our servers.

13.5 Data Retention & Deletion

  • Issued certificates are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required by NZ electrical regulations.
  • Draft certificates are retained for 90 days from last modification, then permanently deleted.
  • Account data (including Google profile information) is retained while your account is active.
  • Upon account deletion, all personal data and certificates are permanently removed within 30 days.

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at our support form. Upon receiving your request, we will delete your account, Google user data, and all non-regulatory personal data within 30 days. Certificate data required by regulation may be retained in anonymised form for the mandatory retention period.

13.6 Google API Services User Data Policy

WireWrite's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or through a notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
