Getting Started with WireWrite NZ

Account setup, EWRB verification, and your first CoC in 5 minutes

Account setup

Creating your account

Sign up with your email address or use Google sign-in. You'll get a 30-day free trial to explore all features — for both Individual Pro and Company accounts. No card required to start.

Choosing your plan

WireWrite has two subscription tiers — Individual Pro for solo electricians and Company for teams. The two differ on price and team features (branding, shared clients, billing). See Pro vs Company — which to pick for a side-by-side comparison.

Manage your subscription anytime from Settings.

Setting up your profile

Go to Settings to complete your profile. You'll need:

  • Your full name (as it appears on certificates)
  • Your EWRB registration number, licence class, and expiry
  • A digital signature (draw on screen or upload)
  • A 4-digit signature PIN for security

EWRB verification

Enter your EWRB details in Settings — registration number, licence class, and expiry date. These details appear on all certificates you issue. This is required before you can issue any certificates. See the full guide on EWRB Licence Verification for prefix formats (E / EI / ES / EA / EM) and the 24-month renewal cycle.

Navigating the app

Dashboard

Your Dashboard shows all your certificates — drafts, issued, and shared. Use the search bar to find certificates by client name, address, or certificate number. Filter by status or type.

Navigation

The top navigation bar gives you quick access to:

Mobile app

WireWrite works as a web app on any device. On mobile, tap the hamburger menu (three lines) in the top right to access all navigation options. You can also install WireWrite as an app on your phone for quick access — look for the "Install App" option in the menu.

Your first certificate

Creating a certificate takes just a few minutes. Here's how:

  1. 1

    Choose your certificate type

Select from Certificate of Compliance (CoC), Energy Safety Certificate (ESC), Record of Inspection (RoI), or Certificate of Verification (CoV). See EWRB CoC explained for when each applies.

  2. 2

    Fill in the details

The wizard guides you through each section step by step — client details, job address, work description, compliance, and testing results. Your work is auto-saved as you go.

  3. 3

    Review and sign

On the final step, review all your details. When you're ready, sign the certificate using your saved signature and PIN. You can preview the PDF before issuing.

  4. 4

    Issue and share

Once issued, download the PDF or email it directly to your client. The certificate is stored in your dashboard and can be accessed any time within the 7-year retention period required by regulation 73.

Tip: Make sure your profile and EWRB licence are set up before trying to issue a certificate. The app will prompt you if anything is missing.
