What is WireWrite?
WireWrite is a New Zealand electrical certificate platform for issuing CoCs (Certificate of Compliance), ESCs (Electrical Safety Certificate), RoIs (Record of Inspection) and CoVs (Certificate of Verification) compliant with the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 and AS/NZS 3000. Sole-trader Pro plans and multi-seat Company plans available.
Do I need an EWRB licence to use WireWrite?
Yes. Issuing a Certificate of Compliance is reserved to licensed electrical workers under section 74 of the Electricity Act 1992. WireWrite verifies your EWRB practising licence via the EWRB Public Register before you can issue any CoC. Until verified, you can browse, draft certificates and use the calculators, but the Issue button stays disabled.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new account gets a 30-day free Pro trial with unlimited certificates and your own company branding. After the trial, accounts drop to the Free plan (3 issued certificates per rolling 30-day window with WireWrite branding on the PDF) unless you upgrade to Pro at NZ$6 per month.
Can I use WireWrite on my phone?
Yes. wirewrite.co.nz is mobile-first and works as a Progressive Web App (PWA) you can add to your home screen. The full certificate wizard, calculators, dashboard, signature capture and PDF download all work on Android and iPhone browsers. A native Android app is available on Google Play (WireWrite Mobile).
What certificates can I issue with WireWrite NZ?
Four NZ certificate types: CoC (Certificate of Compliance, for prescribed electrical work), ESC (Electrical Safety Certificate, for safe-to-connect statements), RoI (Record of Inspection, for high-risk and certain general-risk work), and CoV (Certificate of Verification, for work on installations supplied by their own generation). The wizard pre-fills based on the certificate type chosen at Step 1.
How does the 20-day rule work?
Under Reg 71 of the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010, a Certificate of Compliance must be provided to the customer within 20 working days of completion of the work. WireWrite stamps both ‘date range work undertaken’ on the CoC and a separate ‘issue date’; the issue date is compared to the work end date to keep you inside the 20-day window. The system warns if you’re approaching the limit.
Is WireWrite available in the UK or Australia?
Yes — wirewrite.co.uk serves UK electricians with BS 7671 (18th Edition Amendment 4:2026) Electrical Installation Certificates, Minor Works and EICR Periodic Reports. Australia (wirewrite.com.au) is in development. Each region’s certificate types, calculators and regulations are wired separately to the correct local standards.
